A BUS should prove an arresting experience when it stops on an East Cleve-land housing estate.
All the passengers on board will be police officers and crime prevention specialists heading for the crime-plagued Byland Road Estate at Skelton.
Backed by Redcar and Cleveland Council and Cleveland Police, the visit is funded by the Home Office's Crime Reduction Programme.
During the visit residents will be offered free security surveys and a discount on the purchase and installation of intruder alarms and security lights, latches and locks.
Graham Watson, chairman of the Redcar and Cleveland Community Safety Partnership's area task force, said: "Unfor-tunately the estate has suffered from high levels of burglary and sneak-in thefts from residents' homes. This scheme will give residents an affordable opportunity to increase security in their own homes.''
Coun Dave McLuckie, Redcar and Cleveland Council's lead member for community safety, said: "I am delighted to work closely with Cleveland Police and the community to ensure we put as many barriers in the way of potential burglars as possible.''
