FIVE games into the season and Boro have hit the first problem of the campaign.

A combination of losing key players due to injury and an inability to keep a lead have contributed to throwing away a winning position at Derby and losing at home to Everton.

Boro return to action on Sunday as they travel to Manchester City and Phil Stamp, man of the match against Everton, knows a positive display is needed. "It was very disappointing to lose at home to Everton and we will be doing all we can to bounce back at Maine Road," he said.

Injury problems have hit Stamp hard in recent seasons and he is determined to shrug off the past this campaign. "The manager has kept faith with me which has really helped my confidence and the hamstring injury, fingers crossed, is now behind me. I just want a trouble free run and to help us achieve things."

Bryan Robson is looking forward to the Maine Road challenge and said: "Joe Royle has done really well at City getting them back into the Premiership and of course, I remember the United-City derbies of my playing days.

"I just want us to go out with a positive approach and if we get into the lead to keep it."

A good atmosphere is assured on Sunday and let's hope the travelling support return boosted by Boro's second win of the season. The game kicks off at 4pm and will be broadcast live on Sky.
