POLICE who arrested a cyclist discovered a mystery pot of gold hidden in his pocket.
Detectives in Spennymoor are trying to trace the owner of a collection of gold rings and bracelets found on the man last Thursday.
He was riding a purple Townsend mountain bike and carried a JVC video recorder inside a pillow case decorated with maroon piping and roses. The jewellery, which was all gold, included a T-bar bracelet, two Belcher chains, a separate T-bar, solitaire diamond ring, a ring with six garnet stones, a small sovereign, a cluster ring, an oynx ring with fleur-de-lys designs on the sides and another diamond ring.
