NORTH-EAST soccer stars, along with Sunderland manager Peter Reid and Middlesbrough boss Bryan Robson, have helped raise up to £8,000 for the family of a tragic former player.
The club rivals were on the same side at Spennymoor United's ground on Thursday night to support a memorial fund for the family of Gary Walton, an ex-Newcastle United junior striker, who died during a night out in his home village of Coundon last July.
Gary's old friend, Chris Waddle, was back in a Newcastle shirt for the match, which a combined Sunderland and Middlesbrough XI won 5-2.
Signed shirts from Middlesbrough, Bradford City and Darlington, signed footballs from Newcastle, Sunderland and Darlington, a mountain bike, microwave oven, Darlington FC tickets and an £85 car service at Hi Q services at Shildon are all waiting to be claimed after a ticket draw.
The winning numbers were 723, 2316, 1351, 830, 1344, 2719, 3842, 2892, 930 and 3861.
