A NORTH-EAST author has rewritten her popular book detailing the effect of the railway on a small town in the region.
Carol Fox's book, The Iron Road, has been re-issued to coincide with the 175th anniversary of the Darlington and Stockton Railway and the Full Head of Steam celebrations.
The book, which tells the story of the Clarence Railway, which owned the track at the Norton junction, was written with the help of Bob Harbron, of Norton Heritage.
The Iron Road was originally written in 1981, when some of the original buildings at Norton Junction were demolished.
A host of new photographs and information sent to Carol after its publication have now been included in the re-issue.
The book, published by Billingham company Carol Fearns, is available from the Arc in Stockton, the Green Dragon Museum, Preston Hall Museum and most book shops.
