ONE man was killed and a woman injured in a three vehicle pile-up in North Yorkshire at the weekend.
The accident happened on the B6271 Richmond to Brompton-on-Swale road at about 9.50am on Saturday.
It involved a blue Nissan Micra travelling towards Brompton and a blue Mitsubishi Colt and a red Peugeot 405 taxi going the opposite way.
The 59-year-old driver of the Nissan was taken to the Friarage Hospital in Northallerton where he later died.
The female driver of the Mitsubishi was also taken to hospital but released after treatment. The taxi driver and passengers were unhurt.
Police are appealing for witnesses. They would like particularly to speak to the occupants of a beige car going towards Brompton at the time, which was spotted flashing its headlights to warn other traffic of the accident. Anyone with information should call on (01609) 789326
