TRADE stands were again well represented at the show.
Everything the dog lover could want was available, from health foods for their pet to photographs and portraits.
One of the few charity stands was staffed by North-East volunteers from Pets as Therapy.
It was established so that people in hospitals, hospices and homes for the elderly could have contact with dogs and cats.
Research has found that the lonely and ill benefit from simply stroking animals and enjoying their company.
In the North-East, there are about 300 dogs that take part in such visits, with another 300 registered with the charity.
Volunteer visitor Pauline Lee said: "Stroking dogs and cats has a very positive effect on many people."
