A COUNTY Durham man was ordered not to approach his former wife by a judge yesterday.
David Howdle appeared before Teesside Crown Court and admitted harassment of his former wife between October 1998 and August last year.
Yesterday, Howdle, 40, of Woodside, Barnard Castle, was put on probation for a year and was also made the subject of a restraining order preventing him from approaching his former wife.
Greg Purcell, for Howdle, said the harassment charge arose out of the acrimonious breakdown of the couple's marriage. There were no allegations of physical violence towards his ex-wife but there were allegations of kicking her door and there had been no further incident in the last year.
Howdle, a long distance lorry driver, has good employment prospects and has been offered work with a company doing long distance hauls to Spain, said Mr Purcell.
