A PROJECT aimed at opening up parts of the region for people with disabilities has produced a new information pack to help.
Breakfree is a regional project aiming to bring access details to countryside lovers.
Gateshead Borough Council's new guide gives detailed information for Derwent Walk Country Park and Derwenthaugh Park.
Launched at the Thornley Woodlands Centre, it aims to improve access for people with disabilities.
Councillor Mick Henry, cabinet member with responsibility for leisure, said: "Breakfree packs contain details of gradients, gates, steps and surface quality, and make planning a visit to the countryside easier for people with disabilities or for older people and anyone bringing young people in pushchairs."
The guide is available by sending a cheque for £1.50, payable to Thornley Woodlands Centre, to Breakfree Guide, Thornley Woodlands Centre, Derwent Walk Country Park, Rowlands Gill, Gates-head, NE39 1AU
