A VOLUNTEER fell rescue team has praised the generosity of residents, who have allowed the group to thrive.
The Swaledale Fell Rescue Organisation (SFRO) thanked local people who have already raised £4,300 towards its running costs this year.
The team has received a grant from the National Lottery Charities Board, and is building a new headquarters at Catterick, but still needs about £10,000 a year.
Team fundraising officer Mike Pinchin said: "The tre-mendous generosity of people in the Swaledale and Wensleydale area is much appreciated. It enables SFRO to continue its service.
"We thank everybody who has donated for their support. This year's collections have given great encouragement to all our members and we are looking forward to building on our past achievements when our new HQ is opened in a few months' time."
