POLICE are warning residents to conceal valuable ornaments following a spate of thefts.
Crooks have been targeting homes in the Marton area of Middlesbrough in smash-and-grab type thefts.
The incidents follow a similar crime spree several months ago, in which they were taken from homes all over Middlesbrough.
PC Mick McGravy, a Cleveland Police crime prevention officer, is urging vigilance.
He said: "Any high-visibility ornaments that people put on their window sills, or in their hallways, are being stolen.
"Their windows are being smashed by large stones or garden objects and the items are being grabbed within seconds.
"We are urging people not to put any valuables in highly visible places."
PC McGravy invited anyone who would like a free security survey to contact their local crime prevention officer.
