A MAN shot at a passing car with an air rifle on a busy North-East road.
The driver was left shocked following the attack on Northumberland Way, Washington, Wearside, at noon on Tuesday.
A police spokesman said: "A man stepped out of bushes near a slip-road and fired a shot at the car, causing slight damage to the vehicle. A search of the area failed to recover any weapon."
The gunman is described as in his mid-20s, wearing a blue Nike baseball cap, light grey jacket and dark trousers.
