RESIDENTS in Guisborough have told the local council they are not happy with traffic management in the town.
At a meeting with officers from Redcar and Cleveland Borough Council's Technical Services department, residents and traders complained about parking, congestion and traffic lights.
Points raised at the meeting included congestion caused by the traffic lights at the market cross junction during peak times and unnecessary delay caused during quiet times and increased car parking charges. The community forum meeting had been organised by Coun Valerie Halton, who represents the Belmont ward in the town.
She said: "The meeting gave the opportunity for people to express their concerns and suggestions and the engineer's contribution was appreciated.
However it was clear from this meeting that the residents and business people of Guisborough do not believe that Redcar and Cleveland Borough Council take notice of the people."
Tony Gordon, an engineer with the council who attended the forum, said he would be making a report on the meeting for his department and would discuss the points the residents had raised to see if any solutions could be found.
