NYSD Premier Division
Middlesbrough v Marske.
ON a drying pitch the home side batted well to record their 178 for seven off 50 overs. Liam Plunkett, 16, the son of ex-Marske bowler Alan, impressed for the Boro with 43.
Another youngster, 17-year-old Alex Roberts gave Marske a difficult time when they made their reply. He took the first five wickets for 28 runs off 11 overs.
Stewart Hutton with 60 tried to keep the Marske innings intact until a top edge ended his season. Marske innings finally folded on 134 all out. Despite this result Marske finished a creditable fifth in the league.
Middlesbrough 178 for 7 (L Plunkett 43, D Evans 34, S Mackay 3-51, P Briggs 1-22); Marske 134 all out (S Hutton 60, M B Catchpole 21, A S Hargreaves 21, L R Beaumont 4-39, A Roberts 5-28).
