THE future of the North Yorkshire County Show is under threat, because no-one has volunteered to take on the role of secretary.
This year was the first year Mr Brian Taylor took on the job, but he was killed in a car accident just days after the show.
The committee not only needs a new general secretary. It is also looking for a new secretary for the light horses after a resignation and it is also a few committee members short.
Mr Ralph Pattison, show chairman, explained that it needed to have a new general secretary in place by the end of the month, or the future of the show would be in serious doubt.
"Brian was priceless to us really, he did a fantastic job as secretary, but we cannot carry on without a secretary or without more committee members, when you consider the size of the show," he said.
The North Yorkshire County Show committee is holding a meeting to discuss the future of the show at the Station Hotel in Northallerton on Thursday at 8pm.
Anyone interested in joining the committee or taking on the job of secretary should contact Mr Pattison on 01609 882322, or show president Mr Tony Howard on 01609 772880, or go along to the meeting on Thursday.
