BISHOP Auckland's Roman heritage is brought to life with a new exhibition which opened in the town's discovery centre last week.
The display includes a full sized replica catapult, armour and weaponry as well as exhibits from other aspects of Roman life.
A member of the North Guard team, who regularly recreate the past at nearby Binchester Roman Fort, is at the centre on Saturday, September 23, and Saturday, September 30, to talk to visitors and answer questions. Children and adults can take part in art activities at the same time.
The exhibition will run until Saturday, October 14, and is open on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays from 11am to 4pm.
