THE children who attend Bishopton/Redmarshall School are disappointed with Darlington Borough Council for providing them with buses with no seatbelts.

After all the recent coach accidents reported in the news involving children, why is the council still sending inadequate coaches to our school?

I think it is time for us to say, "No! We are not getting on them."

One teacher said they would worry if supervising children on such buses. The children would like the bus company to fit seatbelts on all buses so they can travel safely. If there was an accident, the children might be at risk of being seriously hurt. Proper seatbelts could help to reduce this risk.

The bus company should listen to the views of its passengers.

Every Friday, a bus comes to pick up children going to swimming lessons. You would think this was a normal school bus, but it doesn't have any seatbelts.

People are getting hurt. Even I got hurt once, because the bus stopped and I hit my head on a metal bar.

So, can we have seatbelts on the bus, please, to prevent a serious accident from happening?

Dean Bland (Year Four)

IT is only a matter of time before Bishopton school children will be hurt if the buses do not have seatbelts. The roads are getting full with cars, and the chances of an accident are much greater as a result.
