NORTHALLERTON'S skateboard enthusiasts are to continue to use Applegarth car park after the failure of the latest effort to find them a permanent base.
Land at the Applegarth was the latest possibility but plans were rejected.
Hambleton District Council's leisure committee chairman said: "The youngsters are very responsible and have even been raising money for their equipment but their hobby is a noisy one and people in the area were against it.
"It is clear that they prefer the car park. It has all the advantages of closed circuit television, toilets and good lighting and until we can find a permanent solution the club will continue to use it."
The club cones off a section of the car park in the evenings when it is not busy.
