Langbaurgh West Rural District League
MALTBY lifted the championship when they defeated Swainby on Sunday and challengers Broughton and Kirby went down to Stafford Place.
The pair went into the double weekend programme with the same number of points and both won on Saturday before Broughton and Kirby unexpectedly lost on Sunday.
In Saturday's programme Maltby bowled out Scruton for 94 when Eland and Hornsby both took wickets. Batting first Maltby totalled 232 for three as runs flowed from captain Martin Barber (76), Simon Close (66), Andy Morrow (34) and Paul Hutchinson (34 no).
Broughton and Kirby defeated Ingleby Greenhow by six wickets, opener Mark Smith carrying his bat for 65. When Ingleby Greenhow made first use of the wicket they were restricted to 108 for seven which included 31 by Fawcett while for Broughton and Kirby David Blayden returned three for 17.
Stafford Place totalled 35 in 24 overs at Crathorne for whom Howard Leng claimed seven for 13 in 12 overs. Despite conceding three wickets Crathorne won easily as Danny Murdoch carried his bat for 26 striking five boundaries.
Kirby Sigston also found runs difficult when they hosted East Harlsey and were bowled out for 54 as Grange took four for 19 and Willey five for 29. East Harlsey lost four wickets all to Clarkson for 19 runs before securing victory.
Great Smeaton reached 143 for seven defeating Hutton Rudby by 40 runs. Meynell (39) and Blench (59) top performed with the bat for Great Smeaton and when Hutton Rudby replied Blench took four for 41 and Thompson four for 60.
Lockwood (5-79) and Kerr (3-48) took most of the wickets when Chopgate totalled 172 for nine of which openers Holmes (49) and Austin (64) provided the bulk of the runs. Swainby responding were back in the pavilion for 90 and almost half the runs were contributed by Kerr with 42 while for Chopgate Stockton claimed four for 25.
In Sunday's make or break matches Maltby recovered from 78 for five to total 200 for seven as Andy Morrow (52) and John Forth (71 no) figured in a 93-run partnership, Matthew Lockwood taking 5-107. Responding, Swainby were dismissed for 45 with Ray Rix claiming five for seven and Paul Hutchinson three for ten.
Broughton and Kirby were unexpectedly defeated by Stafford Place by ten runs. Had they won the championship would have been shared but it was Maltby's day as Tony Robson with five for 45 and Brent Smith (4-36) bowled out Broughton and Kirby for 86. When Stafford Place went to the wicket first they finished on 96 all out with Chesney Simpson (33) while for Broughton and Kirby David Blayden captured five for 22.

Bass North Cleveland League
HINDERWELL defeated Moorsholm to lift the First Division crown and consign their opponents to Division Two - the only game in the top flight.
Moorsholm, who enjoyed a good season last year, have never really struck consistent form this time around and in their final match slumped to 54 all out.
Simon Bowes destroyed their batting, capturing eight for 14 in 16 overs, eight of them maidens.
Hinderwell then romped to victory in 13 overs losing one wicket as Clive Lythe carried his bat for 28 including four boundaries.
Skelton Castle are champions of Division Two but only one match went ahead involving Norton and Cowpen Bewley A.
When the visitors made first use of the wickets their 45 overs produced a formidable 182 for nine as Dave Fairley struck 13 boundaries in a superb innings of 193.
Zaf Iqbal sent down 15 overs in the Norton attack taking six for 36 and Mark Chapman finished with three for 40 from 11 overs.
When they replied Norton were back in the pavilion following 41.3 overs with 78 runs on the board which included top scoring 24 by Stephen Wood. Fairley completed a memorable day with four wickets for seven runs in 3.3 overs.

NatWest Darlington and District League
Middleton St George won the Division A championship although their game at the weekend was one of five cancelled before a ball was bowled.
Only one match went ahead with Rockliffe Park making short work of their task at home to Witton-le-Wear, bowling out their opponents for 38 in 23.1 overs.
Richard Howell claimed three wickets for five runs in 3.1 overs and in reply Rockcliffe Park romped home for the loss of two wickets in 20 overs. Top performer with the bat for Rockliffe was Darren Weaver who finished unbeaten on 14.
Aldbrough St John ended second six points behind Middleton St George and at the bottom of the table Eryholme and Witton-le-Wear were relegated to Division B.
Cockerton were declared champions of Division B after defeating Middleton in Teesdale by six wickets. Batting first the visitors were all out for 94 as Paul Carroll captured three for 17 runs in 14.1 overs and Phil Salmon had four for 44 from his ten overs spell.
Responding Cockerton celebrated after 23.1 overs winning for the loss of four wickets. Shaun Farrow whose top scoring innings of 34 included three boundaries and Steve Lethbridge (29) added 39 runs for the third wicket. Ian Rawlings hit a six for the winning runs to start Cockerton's celebrations.
Spennymoor are also promoted to the top flight and completed the season with 114 runs victory at home to Brompton-on-Swale who were pegged at 87 for nine mainly by the bowling of Groves and Grainger who took three wickets apiece.
Batting first Spennymoor realised 201 for seven as Nicholson scored 46 and Grainger 43 while Ross hit a late, quickly struck 73. Ian Thompson was the best performer with the ball in the Brompton-on-Swale attack taking three of the seven wickets to fall for 51 runs.
Heighington and King James are relegated to Division C. In their last match Heighington went down by four wickets to Haughton after totalling 111 for six as Gill claimed four for 32. Wilkinson finished unbeaten on 35 in the Haughton reply of 112 for six.
The game between King James and Ingleton was washed out and so too was the fixture between Trimdon CCA and Cliffe, but Dales managed to make their pitch playable for the visit of Lands but went down by 16 runs.
Batting first, Lands totalled 106 with most runs coming from Elstob (49) while for Dales Hutchinson bowled a good stint and was well worth his figures of five for 46.
Responding Dales could only manage 90 all out with Davey claiming five for 18 and Simpson three for 35.
East Cowton are Division C champions and promoted along with Middleton Tyas while Aldbrough St John II and Lands II go down into Division D to be replaced by Spennithorne and Harmby (champions) and Cliffe II who were runners-up.
