POLICE hunting the killer of Freddie Knights have set up a mobile police station near the spot were he was gunned down.
The temporary base is at the Arndale Shopping Centre, Longbenton, North Tyneside, 200 yards from where he was shot in the face last Wednesday night.
Police carried out extensive house to house enquiries in the area over the weekend.
Detective Chief Inspector Alan Stewart urged anyone with information to speak to the officers manning the station 24 hours a day.
Father-of-two Mr Knights, 38, of Longbenton, was shot twice after he picked up birthday presents from a relative's home in Langdale Close.
Police want to hear from anyone who saw a man acting suspiciously in gardens in Langdale Close on Tuesday between 9pm and 10.15pm.
They also want information about the gunman who may have been seen loitering in the area on the night of the shooting. He ran off after the killing towards Chesters Avenue.
