A MAN crushed to death when a wall fell on him was named yesterday.
James Loughran, 63, of Burnopfield, Derwentside, was laying paving stones in the backyard of a relative's home when a wall collapsed and pinned him against a parked car.
Mr Loughran was taken to South Tyneside General Hospital following the incident in Cranford Street, South Shields, but died later from internal injuries.
Following the accident, on Saturday morning, residents living nearby said the victim was covered in bricks and rubble before passers-by dug him out and he was taken to hospital.
Mr Loughran's family were too upset to speak at their home in Birch Crescent, Burnopfield, yesterday.
Police have filed a report on the accident for the South Tyneside coroner.
