THE future of two town centres will be discussed at a public meeting tomorrow.
The Spennymoor and Newton Aycliffe Town Centre Study sets out an ambitious long-term vision of revitalisation.
Central to the plan is the establishment of a town centre manager to coordinate activities.
Officials are hoping approval will be given for the post to be created before Christmas.
The report, drawn up by analysts Edaw, includes seven programmes and 27 projects to help realise the potential of both town centres.
The public can give their views at conferences tomorrow, at Newton Aycliffe Leisure Centre, at 4.30pm, and Spennymoor Leisure Centre, at 7pm.
There will be a short presentation by the analysts, town centre representatives and Sedgefield Borough Council, before the public get their say.
Copies of the study can also be viewed at Newton Aycliffe and Spennymoor libraries, town council offices, or on the Internet at www.sedgefield.gov
Comments can be made in writing to Sedgefield District Council at the Council Offices, Spennymoor, County Durham, DL16 6JQ.
