STAFF who run riding and trekking holidays can take examinations which qualify them to work throughout the UK and Ireland.
The governing bodies of equestrian tourism in all four countries have worked closely together to develop recognised standards at three levels - assistant ride leader, ride leader and riding holiday centre manager.
The last two are internationally recognised and accredited by the Federation Internationale de Tourisme Equestre (FITE).
Centres employing fully qualified staff have seen the benefits, say the BHS, not least a substantial reduction in their insurance premiums. Since the introduction of the qualifications three years ago, more than 220 riders have taken the exams.
The BHS is to hold exams for the BET qualifications of assistant ride leader and ride leader at the Lakeland Equestrian Centre, Wynlass Beck, Windermere on October 18.
Anyone interested should apply immediately to the approvals office, BHS, Stoneleigh Deer Park, Kenilworth, Warwickshire CV8 2XZ
