AN INEXPERIENCED Quakers' side were given a sound thrashing by Premiership outfit Bradford City in the Worthington Cup on Monday.
The 7-2 scoreline, which meant an 8-2 aggregate win for the Bantams, could have been worse. Benito Carbone's penalty was well-saved by Andy Collett, who also made several other fine saves. The home side were three up after ten minutes against a Darlington side without Neil Aspin, Craig Liddle, Paul Heckingbottom and Lee Nogan.
By two minutes after the interval it was five, before Stuart Elliott and Mark Angel pulled two back.
The Bantams added a sixth, before Collett's penalty save, and the seventh goal came in the dying minutes.
The Feethams faithful will be hoping for a stronger team tomorrow when Carlisle United are the visitors. But the injured Heckingbottom will be absent for several weeks.
Last Friday, Quakers picked up a point at Macclesfield after the Silkmen took an early lead through Sedgemore. Nogan scored the second half equaliser.
