A CAMPAIGN which aims to raise environmental awareness in the Hambleton district will be launched on Monday.
The Buy Recycled Week has been designed to encourage shoppers not only to recycle household waste, but also to buy recycled products.
The initiative, organised by the Local Authority Recycling Advisory Committee, will include a poster campaign in shops throughout the district.
The chairman of the district council's environmental health and housing committee, Councillor Percy Featherstone, said: "We are urging shoppers to think about the amount of waste their household produces and how much of that is necessary.
"Our message is simple - buy it, recycle it, then buy recycled products.
"We must reduce the amount of waste going to landfill by recycling more, so conserving energy and resources."
