DRIVERS came face-to-face with the reality of vehicle crime on Saturday.
Police staged an exhibition in Stockton, featuring a car and motorcycle that had been "ringed" by professional thieves.
A member of the stolen vehicles squad was on hand to explain how the vehicles identifications had been altered - and the key points to look for when buying a second-hand car or bike.
Crime prevention officer, DC Wallace Sayer, said: "The last thing people want when they are spending their hard-earned money is to buy something that is stolen or fitted with stolen parts.
