A NEW recruit is to encourage more young people to sign up to join the armed forces.
Green Howard Private David Tose, 17, of Hartlepool, has completed his training as an infantryman and will spend a week in Darlington sharing his experiences.
David, who was a pupil at Henry Smith's School, Hartlepool, undertook his training in Scotland and at Catterick Garrison, where his parents watched his recent passing out parade.
He was encouraged to join the Green Howards by a friend and hopes others will join him.
David, who will join First Battalion The Green Howards at their base in Wiltshire, will be at the Armed Forces recruiting office in Northgate, Darlington, for a week from today.
