A COUNCIL agreed yesterday to publish travel and subsistence expenses claimed annually by its members.
North Yorkshire County Council had previously been concerned that only publishing the travel and subsistence expenses could create a misleading impression, given the responsibilities and geographical representation of different councillors.
The council's standards committee approved the change following a report from an independent panel and auditors Price Waterhouse Cooper.
The expenses and allowances will be published for the year ending March 31 and then on an annual basis.
Chairman of the standards committee, councillor Bill Barton, said: "The figures will be accompanied by an explanation from the county council which will put the information into context.
