AN Army band swapped musical beats for heartbeats when they went to hospital to improve their medical knowledge.
The King's Division Waterloo Band, from Catterick, helped to set up and run a 200-bed field hospital on an exercise in Nottinghamshire.
Bandsmen are traditionally given medical training and they joined members of 34 Field Hospital RAMC from Strensall, near York, to create the tented hospital.
The field hospital, used in both humanitarian and conflict situations, is set up, staffed and tested every three years in an exercise called Bobcat.
During the exercise, the bandsmen refreshed their medical skills and treated simulated casualties.
