DISABLED visitors will be able to get around a wildlife haven more easily thanks to Durham Freemasons.
The organisation has donated £750 for an electric wheelchair at the Wildfowl and Wetlands Trust (WWT), Washington.
Centre manager Chris Francis said: "Many visitors to WWT Washington have mobility problems that prevent them and their families from exploring all of the 100-acre site.
"The electric wheelchair will allow visitors with disabilities to enjoy all that WWT has to offer. I am delighted to have received such a generous donation from the Durham Freemasons. I know that many of our visitors will be delighted with the extra help that we can now provide.''
George Clark, of the Masons' charity committee, said: "This donation is one of many made to local organisations by Durham Masons for the benefit of disadvantaged members of the community.''
He added that he was delighted the trust was trying to make the centre more accessible for the disabled.
