A Chester-le-Street charity which helps people with mental health problems is planning a fundraiser for a counselling service.
Working with Park View School, Chester-le-Street Mind will provide a "listening post" service to help students.
Counsellors and trained staff will work with the youngsters, helping them with a variety of problems and providing support where needed.
To help to raise the £7,000 needed to fund the project, the group has organised a charity gig at the Red Lion, in Chester-le-Street, on Friday, October 13.
Durham University rock band Hill Bede Entertainment will appear with three guest vocalists, while North-East club circuit favourite Viv Sheldon will also take part.
Liz Robinson, Chester-le-Street District Council's community safety manager, said: "The needs of young people are often overlooked. The listening post service will ensure that none of the young people are left without support in times of difficulty.
"Hopefully, if successful, this project will be extended to cover other parts of the district."
Tickets for the event cost £3.50 and are available from the Red Lion and Chester-le-Street Mind
