AN exhibition of students' art inspired by the culture of the East has gone on display at Durham University's Oriental Museum.
The work, by Year Ten and 11 pupils taking GCSE Art and Design at Spennymoor School and Year Two students on the BA (Hons) International Textiles and Surface Pattern course at Cleveland College, Middlesbrough, forms an exhibition that runs until Tuesday, October 31.
A museum spokesman said: "The works on show from Spennymoor School are the result of a long-standing collaboration between the school and the museum. This is the third exhibition of the school's work to be held at the museum.
"The works are directly inspired by pieces in the collection and include a free-standing 3D piece by Kate Smalley, winner of an individual award at the National Children's Art Awards, sponsored by the Vivien Duffield Foundation.
"The students on the International Textiles and Surface Pattern degree course at Cleveland College were given a brief to choose an ethnic style in which to produce contemporary, marketable designs.
"The result of this brief that were based on Oriental designs are on show at the museum."
The exhibition is open between 2pm and 4.30pm on weekdays. The rest of the museum is closed
