PLANS to turn an old mineral mine into a waste management site have been questioned by Richmond district councillors.
In June, the district planning committee lodged objections about an application by North Yorkshire County Council to use land at Tancred Quarry, near Scorton.
District councillors called for an environmental impact assessment to be carried out before they made a decision.
The land is close to an existing landfill site and residents have objected strongly to the plans, which would include recycling and composting.
At a planning meeting this week Brian Hodges, principal development control officer, advised members to recommend a county council site visit, to which members of the district council would be invited.
Councillors voted in favour of that proposal.
