League leaders Leyburn dropped vital points in their bid for the championship when they were held to a 1-1 draw at home by Richmond Mavericks. The visitors took the lead after 53 minutes through Andrew Mollitt and although Leyburn got on level terms through Gavin Sayer, they were unable to make home advantage pay with Mavericks going close to snatching a winner when they had a goal disallowed for offside.
Hawes United had a fine 7-2 win over Middleham Town to move into second position in the table. Mark Alderson and Nick Prince put them 2-0 ahead in the first half with Wayne Winspear and Trevor Blades making it 4-0 at half-time. In the second half Glyn Barnard reduced the deficit for the visitors only for Prince to restore the home side's four-goal advantage. Four minutes into the second half Lee Fawcett scored a second for Middleham but Hawes dominated with further goals from Alderson and Colin Sowerby.
Bowes moved into third after a 4-2 victory at Catterick Village. The home side showed a much improved form, taking a 2-0 lead with Danny Charlton and Clive Bell goals but midway through the half Rob Wilkinson netted for the visitors. On the hour Trevor Guy pulled Bowes level and they had further goals from Colin Blackburn and Scott Walker to go 4-2 ahead.
Reeth returned to winning ways when they entertained Catterick Garrison and won 2-1 with two late goals from Steve Clarkson a minute before normal time and three minutes into injury time. Steve Samways scored for Catterick in the 57th minute.
Carperby slipped down they table when they suffered a fourth defeat, going down 2-1 at Swale Travaux. Lee Kirk put the home side in front and midway through the half scored again to make it 2-0 before Nick Oliver pulled one back for Carperby with 15 minutes to go.
Spennithorne extended their unbeaten record when they beat Hawes B 2-0. Stuart Hall put Spennithorne ahead and a minute later Paul Orton made it 2-0 to settle the issue.
Bishopdale collected three valuable points on their visit to Askrigg where they gained a 3-2 victory. James Peacock put the home side in front but midway through the half Bobbie Fotheringham hit an equaliser. In the second half Fotheringham scored again only for Askrigg to get on terms through Dominic Gregson. Five minutes from the end the visitors grabbed the points with a third goal from Andy Reaks.
Richmond Buck won when they entertained Redmire and came out 7-2 victors. They scored after 30 seconds through James Conway but Redmire equalised through Daniel Pounder. Within a minute Conway scored again to restore the home side's lead and goals from Martin Peacock and Mark Cleminson put them 4-1 ahead. On the half hour Conway completed his hat-trick and just before the interval Cleminson netted to make it 6-1 at the break. After 55 minutes Pounder scored a second for Redmire but Conway hit his fourth of the game to secure Buck's win.
