I SHALL say this only once - Chester-le-Street is to host the North-East stage premier of the hit TV comedy 'Allo, 'Allo.

The popular BBC show, based in occupied France during the Second World War, has been adapted for the stage, and Chester's Nomad Theatre group is thought to be the first to stage it.

Rehearsals have begun for the amateur production before it receives its public debut on October 18, at The Hermitage School in the town.

Among the cast is 15-year-old local schoolboy Ross Eyeington who had stepped in to play the Gestapo schemer Herr Flick at just three week's notice.

Tickets for the play, which runs from October 18 to 21, at 7.30pm daily, cost £3.50 (concessions available) from The Hermitage, or by contacting Jill Oliver on 0191-387 1322.
