IN the Durham County Cup, First Division leaders Newton Aycliffe SC thrashed Bishop Auckland King's Head 12-1, Team Scania beat Wingate Constitutional 5-2, Spraire lost 3-1 to Beamish High Hold Bird Inn while Coundon Miners Arms beat Peterlee Landscaping.
East End WMC lost 4-2 after extra time to Chester-le-Street Relton Terrace WMC who took the lead after 15 minutes but East End levelled things just before the half when a superb cross by Wayne Buckley was met by Mark Maddison. Gavin Bell put the Eastenders in front but after numerous chances at both ends Chester-le-Street struck back in the 80th minute. After having a goal disallowed Eastenders, conceded two extra time goals and made an early cup exit.
Meanwhile, in Division One, Stooperdale RA got back to winning ways when they hammered bottom of the table Jack Horners 10-2. The goal scorers were Stuart Alderson (4), Jimmy Morris (3), Scott McAllister, Anth Thorns and Chris Clack. Andrew Vemon and Paul Scott hit the Jacks' consolations. Busters moved into second place with a 5-2 win against The Northern Echo. Busters led 3-1 at half-time but in the second-half the Echo produced a mini revival, making it 3-2. Busters went on to hit two more to seal the win. Banks (2), Cottom (2),Winter and Collings did the damage with Les Mooney and Darren Stanley scoring the Echo's tally.
In the Second Division, Nestfield WMC earned the manager of the month award when they hung on to their 100 per cent record. They completed four wins in fine style with a 3 -1 win against rivals Northern Spirit RA. Nestfield dominated most of the game and took a 3-0 lead with goals from Robson, Mitchell and Cockburn. Northern Spirit, who lost midfield anchor Carl Mansfield through injury at the break, rallied in the last quarter and Neil Jollie took advantage of Nestfield's complacency making it 3-1, but Nestfield hung on to the well-deserved victory.
It was a tale of two hat-tricks when Classic World of Fitness met Sadberge. Classic's Dave Mackley and
Mark Grant of Sadberge were the scorers while Terry Scott was also on target for the Classic and Andy Wilson hit one for Sadberge in a 4-4 draw. Goals from Stephen Reeve (2) Dean Stanley and Andrew Carrick were enough to ensure Newton Cap's first win of the season, beating lowly Hogans 4-2. Chris Piper was on target with both Hogans goals. Smith and Allan shared the points in a 2-2 draw against the Greyhound.
Alan Storey scored both their goals while Nigel Rea and Steve Ramsbottom struck for the Greyhound.
Despite being without midfield playmaker Paul Mulrooney, Hoppers Transport won 5-1 against Northern Spirit Colts. Andrew Rustico scored for the Colts after a strong run by Martin Hogg while Hoppers' goals came from Simon King (2) Michael Smith, lan Thompson and veteran Wayne Rochester.
In Division Three, Brown Trout moved into third spot after winning against Hurworth Albion. Carl Batty hit a treble for the Trouters, with Darryl McElvena also on target in a 4-1 win.
Saul CharIton scored for the Albion. AXA Insurance remain in the bottom three after a 6-0 defeat at the hands of Orange FC. Kevin Kokes (2) Daniel Ofosu, Shaun Hibbert, Martin Allinson and Andrew Waclawek hit the target for the Orange men.
The Royal British Legion climbed out of the bottom three after a 5-2 victory over Newton Aycliffe Oak Tree.
Paul Topping, Neil Topping and Adrian Gough (3) were on target for the Legion with Barry Browning and Wayne Gill scoring Oak Trees consolations.
Hopetown WMC kept up with the chasing pack with a 5-3 win against the Falchion. Hopetown played well in the first half to lead 4- 1.
In the second half Falchion came alive and outplayed the Clubmen and were unlucky not to earn a draw. Vic McPherson and Andy Mangle (2) scored their consolations with Hopetown's winners coming from Paul Hope, Armardip Singh, Gavin Rose, Vinny Fryas and Dave McFarlane
