Crook Town

Two first-half goals gave Crook a 2-0 away win over Ashton United in the third qualifying round of the FA Youth Cup. Crook now travel to Oldham Athletic in the first round proper on October 20.

Ian Currie put Crook ahead and Stephen Tompkins added a second, both in the first-half, the County Durham side turning on the style before the break.

It was a more difficult second-half for Crook, particularly after losing Gavin Lowe who was sent off after collecting two yellow cards, and Ashton improved after making changes but Crook pulled out all the stops to progress.

Crook are at home to Newton Aycliffe tomorrow in the Durham County Youth Cup (2pm).

Chester-le-Street Town

The U-16s continued their impressive start to the season with a fine 8-2 home victory over Vimac - who had a 100 per cent league record before the game.

The visitors were a goal up inside five minutes but by half-time, they found themselves 4-1 down. Craig Ellison was once again in devastating form for Chester, netting a hat-trick. Rob Bulch (2), Mark Adamson, Ryan Rowntree and Andy Dawson completed the scoring in an awesome display by the home side.

The U-17s also carried out a demolition job, winning 6-0 at South Shields and recording their first clean sheet of the season. Man of the Match Dean Burns put Chester on their way with a fine individual goal before David Hope slotted the second just before half-time after a fine move. Craig Patterson rattled a brace after the re-start to take his tally for the season to eight, before Burns netted two more to complete his hat-trick.

The U-13s were beaten 2-1 at Seaham Red Star while the U-15s, continually dogged by injuries, went down 5-0 at John E. Laing. The Cestrians were only 1-0 down at the interval and they rallied strongly at the start of the second half only to lose a second goal. It wasn't until the last five minutes that John E. Laing gave the scoreline a less than competitive look when they netted three well taken goals.

On Sunday the U-15s are away to Durham County (12.45pm), the U-16s have a top of the table clash at Redhouse & Downhill (10.30am), and the U-17s entertain Sandhole Juniors at Chester Moor Park (2pm).

Willington

THE U-8s had a double victory in the Russell Foster small-sided League, beating Barnes Park 1-0 and Easington District Falcons 6-0. Jordan Roberts scored the winner in the first game and got two more in the second with Marcus Maddison (2), Andrew Stocks and Craig Elliott also on target.

The Willington U9s defeated Belford House 5-0 and drew 0-0 with Byers Green. Wright (2), Fenwick, Carr and Williams got the goals. The U-10s drew 0-0 with Byers Green and then beat City of Durham Wasps 4-2. Barry Shields was MoM in the hard fought game against Byers Green while two-goal Jimmy Walker was MoM in the second game with Jonathan Baines and Ewan Graham also scoring.

The win keeps Willington U-10s undefeated and top of their league. Lewis Graham had another excellent game in goals. He has four clean sheets in six outings.

In the 11-a-side Russell Foster League Willington U-11s won 7-2 at home to Redhouse and Dunhill. Glen Newton scored a hat-trick, the other goals coming from Benjamin Horn, Lee Broadley (2) and Jake Henderson, Matthew Baines was MoM.

The Willington U-12s lost 3-0 to Plains Farm while the U-13s drew 2-2 away to Sunderland SAFC 24/7. Jonathan Archer and Thomas Copping got the goals with Archer and Daniel Coates sharing the MoM award.

Willington U-15s lost their top of the table clash 3-2 away to leaders Seaham Red Star, Terry Garside and Sam Smallman scoring.

Blackfyne

Blackfyne were in action in the Apollo Doors Gateshead Small-sided youth league.

At U-8 Blackfyne ran out 6-1 winners over Redheugh with goals from James Severs, Rob McConnell, Andrew Turnbull and Daniel Tool and two from Ben Camsell with MoM going to Luke Armstrong.

The U-9s lost 2-1 to Cleveland with Blackfyne's goal coming from Paul Bell who was also MoM.

The U-10s gained a 3-0 victory over Redheugh with goals from Jamie Toner, Ross Terrington and Daniel Walker with Danny also man of the match.

In the A and C Kelly Gateshead Youth League, Blackfyne U-12 won 4-0 against Chopwell, keeping their 100 per cent record, goals coming from Shaun Donaghy (3) and Danny Nichol with Donaghy named man of the match.

Northallerton Juniors

Fairs Software Tyneside Junior League

West Denton and Newcastle East End both hit eight goals in resounding wins. The former moved into top position by beating Consett 8-0.

Lee Garwood (3), Damien Anderson (2), Liam McIver (2) and Darren Fraser were on target.

Newcastle's goals at Tow Law came from Paul Blake (4), Gavin Wood, Stephen Lavelle (2), and Craig Horswin. Chris Reed hit Tow Law's consolation.

Redheugh were also in scoring mood. Their seven against Swalwell arrived courtesy of Michael Hay, Stephen Venus, Jason Singh (2), Michael Huggin, Paul Clegg and Chris Douglass.

Auckland and District Ebac Youth League

Chilton YC took over at the top of Group A in the League Cup with a 2-0 victory away to Ferryhill Athletic. Craig Mason got both goals for Chilton and Neil Graham was MoM for Ferryhill.

Bishop Auckland still lead Group B, thanks to a comfortable 8-1 win at home to Newton Aycliffe. MoM Neil Robinson scored a hat-trick for Bishops with Dean Maddison (2), Chris Peareth. Warren Burn and Matthew Moffitt the other Auckland scorers. Michael Cairns netted Aycliffe's consolation.

Willington beat visitors West Auckland 2-0 to go second in Group B. Ian Wise got both goals.

The league cup match between Crook Town and Darlington Cleveland Bridge was called off because the visitors were unable to raise a team.

In the league, newcomers Barnard Castle recorded won 2-0 at home to Esh Winning. In a good team performance Barney won with two goals from Joe Baum and Matt Holmes, one in each half.

A and C Kelly Gateshead Youth League

I the U-11 division there were first wins for Sandhole and Low Fell B. Chris Johnson's hat-trick helped Sandhole to a 4-2 victory against Winlaton when Dean Robinson scored both goals for the losers.

Low Fell's success came at Felling where they won 3-1.

Three goals from Adam Ewartt helped Low Fell A win the top of the table game with Redheugh 4-3.

Cleveland Hall inflicted a first defeat on Whickham Glebe in the U-12 division. Gary Archibald (3) and Scott Thomas were the main scorers in the 8-5 win. Michael Banks hit three for the lowers.

Two goals each from Carl Dodds, Michael Boots and Martin Williams helped Redheugh to a 6-0 win over Witton Gilbert.

There was a hat-trick for Shaun Henderson and two for Paul McBride in Consett's U-13 side's triumph at Stocksfield. Consett won 7-3.

In Blaydon's 7-1 win against Ryton, Lee Martin scored four and Liam Bell two.

Mattie Scott scored twice when Blackfyne won 6-1 at Winlaton.

At U-14 level both Terry James and Matthew Patterson scored three for Redheugh. Two more came from David Hills in the 8-2 success at Felling. There were four goals from Chris Wilson when Leam Rangers beat Consett 5-0.

Cleveland Hall moved up the U-15 league by beating Blaydon 7-0. Peter Fairless (4) and Lee Farrell (3) were the scorers. Redheugh remain unbeaten after a 5-1 victory against Haydon Bridge. Tony Thirkell and Andrew Currie scored two each.

Peterlee Spartans

IN an exciting local derby, Spartans drew their Under-12 match with Horden 2-2. Sean English opened the scoring with a fine individual effort after a dazzling dribble through several Horden defenders to shoot from a tight angle, his first goal of the season.

Horden levelled before half-time and on the restart hard-working left back Richard Rowe lobbed the keeper from 20-yards.

Horden battled throughout the game and were rewarded with a late goal after taking advantage of a defensive error making the honours even.

Spartans have started the season with three wins and one draw and are third in the Russell Foster Youth League, Second Division.

The defence of Adam Bentley, Chris Carolan, Michael Armstrong and Richard Rowe offered a succession of intelligent offside traps to frustrate the opposition.

Up front, Aaron Lodge and Kris Sturge remained unlucky not to score. The midfield of Jason Jobson, Nathan O'Neil, Kevin Keenan and Sean English all played their parts in working hard in support of attacking play and defensive moves.

Coxhoe Boys

Ithe Russell Foster Tyne and Wear League the U-10s had George Cairns to thank for their 3-1 win at SAFC 24/7 which ended their hosts' 100 per cent record. Cairns bagged a hat-trick and was awarded the Man of the Match accolade. In another game they lost 2-0 at home to Tyneside Juniors.

At U-12 level a hat-trick from Jamie Lawson secured Coxhoe's 3-2 win at Hylton Castle which took them to the top of the third division.
