ANTI-PYLON protestors fighting the building of a 50-mile power line through countryside have revealed their latest action plan.
Pressure group Revolt's new document, Guidance for Protestors, has been issued to campaigners giving them advice on how far they can go in preventing the National Grid work.
The electricity giant is expected to start work shortly on the controversial overhead line from Teesside to the outskirts of York, but Revolt says it will fight every step of the way while staying on the right side of the law.
Professor Mike O'Carroll told the group's annual meeting in Thirsk, North Yorkshire, that plans to stop the diggers should not include violence or damage, or go against police orders.
Superintendent David Short, who will lead the team of riot police specially trained to handle the protest, told the meeting: "I am sitting in front of people who would never dream of doing anything wrong.
"You are upstanding members of the community who feel passionately about something. My strategy in dealing with you is to ensure that you peacefully protest within the law, and there is nothing in your guidelines that causes me great concern."
