A SCHOOLGIRL was recovering in hospital last night after a collison with a car as she crossed the road.
A police spokesman said an unnamed 22-year-old man was driving a blue Peugeot south, in Church Road, Trimdon Village, at 10.15pm on Friday, when two girls from a group congregating on the east side of the road crossed in front him.
He slowed down for them as they ran across the road, when a third girl ran into the path of his vehicle.
The 15-year-old, from the Trimdon Grange area, who has not been named, was taken to North Tees Hospital, where her condition was described as poorly but stable.
Police have appealed for witnesses to the accident, opposite the junction of Dunelm Road. Anyone with information has been asked to call 0191-386 4929
