DETECTIVES hunting the killer of student Sara Cameron have turned to the world wide web for help.

A new page on the official Northumbria Police website gives Internet browsers the opportunity to help with the investigation into the murder of Sara, who was found dead in Earsdon, North Tyneside, on April 20.

The page details the progress of the inquiry to date, repeats the descriptions of several potential witnesses who have yet to come forward, and details of some of Sara's belongings which have not yet been traced.

Detective Superintendent Steve Bolam, who is leading the hunt, said: "From the outset, people have responded enthusiastically to our numerous public appeals, and we have received a lot of valuable information.

"This Web page opens up those appeals to a much wider audience.

"More importantly, it enables us to go to present the sequence of events in a consolidated, chronological way and focus attention on the main areas of the investigation."

The 23-year-old Finnish-born student, who was studying sports management at Northumbria University, was attacked as she walked home from Shiremoor Metro station to her flat in Earsdon, North Tyneside.

Police are conducting a comprehensive DNA testing operation in the area.
