RESIDENTS are objecting to a fast-food restaurant because of the smell it would create.
McDonald's wants to build a drive-through on the old gasworks site in West Dyke Road and Thrush Road, Redcar.
But, residents in nearby Hanson Street say they are concerned at how close the restaurant would be to their homes, and are worried about the noise, litter and smells which would be generated.
However, in a report to Redcar and Cleveland Borough Council's planning committee, director of resources Paul Kirkham says he does not think the building would adversely affect "visual amenity".
He says opening hours would be restricted to minimise noise problems. He is recommending to the committee, which meets tomorrow, that the plan be approved.
