A SCHOOL has been praised by education watchdogs for its high quality of teaching.
Swalwell Primary School, in Gateshead, has got a glowing report from the Office for Standards in Education (Ofsted), after an inspection of the school before the summer break.
The newly-published report says the school, which has 195 full-time pupils aged between four and 11, is "an effective school where children enter nursery with below average attainment and leave achieving well".
Pupils at the school "are interested and concentrate well. They try hard with their work".
The school was last inspected in November 1996 and according to Ofsted's inspectors there were no significant weaknesses.
Head teacher Denise Hagen said: "This positive report is down to the team work of pupils, teachers and other staff and governors.
"However, we won't be resting on our laurels, as we will be undertaking a series of actions, to even further improve the standards of education for our pupils.
