DETECTIVES on Tyneside are hunting a youth who stabbed a 14-year-old boy as he walked home from school. The attack happened outside the Regent Centre, Gosforth, Newcastle.
The boy, who is believed to be a pupil at Gosforth High School, was with friends when he was confronted by another boy, aged in his late teens.
A struggle broke out and the schoolboy was pushed to the ground and stabbed in the leg.
Passers-by called an ambulance, which took the boy to Newcastle General Hospital.
Police have not revealed the boy's name. A family friend said: "The injury is bad. The knife has damaged the tendons in his leg."
A police spokesman said no one had been arrested in connection with the attack, which happened on Monday evening.
