A SUCCESSFUL crime-fighting operation is looking for recruits.
Bedale Mobile Watch was formed in 1998, involving residents making regular patrols in the area to help police in the early hours. A recent operation led to four North-East men being arrested in connection with alleged theft offences in the area, and police are looking to build on this success.
Bedale area police commander, Sergeant Peter Perkins, said: "Bedale Mobile Watch is a real asset to the community and I hope that more people will get involved.
"The more eyes and ears we have on our side, the less crime we will have.
"These operations are an excellent example of partnerships, with police and the community working together as a team.
"I would like to thank all those who took part in this latest operation, and I would like to assure local people that we already have more operations planned for the near future."
Anyone interested in joining the scheme can contact Sgt Perkins or PC Malcolm Young at Bedale police station on (01609) 789473
