A LOAD of old rubbish was transformed by musical pupils at a County Durham school.
Children from Ferryhill Station Primary School used household junk to produce some great sounds at the regional launch of an environmental group's waste theme month.
Councillor George Morgan, Mayor of Sedgefield Borough Council, launched the event, organised by Going For Green, at Ferryhill Leisure Centre.
Children from other schools in the borough were invited to the performance and were given the chance to ask council officials about waste and recycling.
Going For Green is the country's biggest environmental awareness organisation.
Regional director Marian Harrison said: "The aim of the launch is to raise awareness of waste-related issues and to encourage everyone to do their bit and join in with Going For Green's waste theme month in reducing, reusing and recycling their waste."
Coun Morgan said: "It's time everyone did their bit - the waste theme month and its associated initiatives gives everyone the opportunity to do that."
