Marske United recovered from two successive defeats to draw 1-1 at Whitley Bay on Tuesday night.
Marske took the lead after eight minutes through Darren Sankey from a through ball, but Steve Cuggy levelled after 41 minutes from a Dennis Livermore cross. Cuggy hit the bar in the second half, while Marc Nash also had a shot touched on to the bar by Marske keeper John Mohun.
Jarrow Roofing and Billingham Synthonia drew 2-2 on Wednesday. Lee Flanagan headed in a Dean McGee cross after 17 minutes, and they held on to the lead until the 70th minute when Anthony March levelled with a low cross which deceived everybody.
Flanagan restored Synners' lead from close range, but Paul Chow cracked in an equaliser with ten minutes left.
The match between Brandon and Consett was postponed.
Guisborough beat Crook Town 2-0 at the King George, Chris Fuller scoring in the first half, and Darren Mowbray after the break. In the league's Craven Cup - the Second Division Cup - Ashington lost 2-1 at South Shields.
The home side took the lead after 25 minutes when player-manager John Gamble set up Paul Thompson to score with a header, but Ashington equalised when Alan Hogg headed in a corner. Shields striker Ben Ryan ran through to score the winner after 76 minutes.
Esh Winning beat Northallerton 3-2. Robert Anderson put Northallerton in front after 15 minutes, but impressive Esh came storming back to lead 3-1 by the hour, with goals from Mark Drake and Scott Oliver (2), Oliver's second from the edge of the box. Matt Swailes pulled a late goal back for Northallerton.
Penrith beat Kennek Ryhope CA 3-1. The two sides were level 1-1 with ten minutes left, Mike Phillips having scored for Penrith and Peter Griffiths for Ryhope.
But then Gary Greenan and Andrew Fell scored for Penrith to put them into the next round.
Shildon beat Horden in a penalty shoot-out. Horden led 2-1 until three minutes from the end of normal time, when Neil Corking scored. Lee Hainsworth scored Shildon's other goal.
The Railwaymen scored all five of their penalties at the end of extra time with Horden missing one.
Prudhoe striker Carl Pennington scored twice in the last five minutes to give his side a 3-1 victory at Evenwood. Richard Hinton put Evenwood in the lead after 61 minutes, but Paul McAlindon levelled for Prudhoe after 76 minutes. Evenwood keeper Chris Cooke was carried off near the end.
Shotton won 2-1 at Eppleton, with Wayne Sullivan getting the winner just three minutes from time. Trevor Laidler and Roy Allen scored for their respective sides earlier in the game.
The games at Whickham and Washington were postponed.
Norton have been kicked out of the Albany Durham Challenge Cup for failing to fulfil their first qualifying round game at Annfield Plain last Saturday.
Norton told Durham FA that they were unable to raise a team, as several players had declined to play following the midweek departure of manager Trevor Arnold.
Jarrow Roofing have solved their goalkeeping crisis with the signing of Richard Jones. The former Wigan reserve keeper made his debut last Saturday in the1-1 draw with Consett, and did well again in the 2-2 draw with Billingham Synthonia on Wednesday. Jarrow lost their first choice keeper, Micky Norris, because of injury early in the season, and outfield player Dave Moore has been playing in goal. Jones is a student at Newcastle University.
Easington have signed midfielder Wayne Van Hughf from Tottenham. The 18-year-old signed as a professional for Spurs a year ago, but failed to make the first team, and instead played regularly in the reserves. Easington manager Wilf Constantine said; "Wayne got homesick, and wanted to return to Teesside. He did well down there, but broke his nose which restricted his chances a little bit. He wanted to come to Easington to play football with his mates."
Tow Law's away FA Vase tie at Castleton Gabriels next Saturday has been made all ticket on the instructions of Lancashire police.
