BRIDE-to-be Jane Greig threw her weight behind plans to look her best on her big day.
The 28-year-old's weight was tipping the scales at 16 stones when fiance Doug popped the question last New Year's Eve so mother-of-two Jane decided on drastic action.
Jane chose her perfect wedding dress - but it was ten sizes too small for her 24 dress size frame.
Determined the dress was for her Jane, from Redcar, decided to fight the flab. She went on a diet, encouraged by Doug, who offered to give her £100 for every stone she lost.
Before her August wedding day, Jane shed five stones, made £500 and bought the wedding dress she had dreamed of.
Jane, who joined a Slimming World class, said: "When I first walked into class by myself I was so nervous, and when the scales settled at over 16 stones I could have cried.
"My consultant just said 'It can only get better,' which were the words I needed to hear."
Doug is delighted as he was concerned that by being overweight Jane was risking health problems.
Jane is now starting her own Slimming World classes at St Margaret's Education Centre, Brotton, on Thursday.
