DETECTIVES investigating the rape of a clubber last weekend have released details of clothing they believe her attacker was wearing.
The man met his victim outside the Plastered Parrot nightclub, in Darlington, on Friday night and went on to the Mardi Gras club with her later in the night.
However, after the woman began to make her way home at around 1.30am on Saturday, he followed her out of the Gladstone Street club and into North Lodge Park, about 50 yards from the Mardi Gras. He then raped her.
The man was in his twenties, between 5ft 7in and 5ft 10in tall. Detectives have now revealed the man was believed to be wearing a black, or dark blue, Adidas top, bearing the brand's traditional three white stripes on the sleeves. He was also wearing light coloured trousers.
And last night, a week on from the attack, detectives from Darlington were visiting town centre pubs and clubs with an artist's impression of the suspect.
Acting Detective Inspector Kevin Weir said: "We are especially keen to hear from anyone who saw this man out on the town last Friday, inside the Mardi Gras, or who may have seen him leaving the club.
"There may still be people who can help, who have not contacted us so far and maybe the description of the clothing will jog a few memories."
Anybody who has any information is urged to contact Darlington CID on (01325) 467681.
