ORGANISERS of a campaign aimed at cutting fuel tax say it is off to a flying start.
The Darlington branch of the National Federation of Small Businesses says it has been overwhelmed by calls from people wanting to support the campaign.
Motorists are being asked to tie a yellow ribbon to their aerial and put a sticker in the back window.
The hope is to put pressure on Chancellor Gordon Brown to cut fuel tax immediately and bring it down to 50p per litre by Christmas.
Peter Troy, chairman of the Darlington branch, which has 750 members, said: "The response has been superb - people realise they are being ripped off about the price of fuel.
"I've already had a haulage company with 15 vehicles on to us saying they want ribbons and stickers.
"The silent majority are very concerned and perhaps the Chancellor will listen to this protest."
Stickers and ribbons are available by calling (01609) 783939
