A VETERAN North-East councillor is in hospital after a suspected heart attack.
Councillor Tony Moore, 59, of Newton Aycliffe, County Durham, was taken ill while walking home on Monday evening. He was admitted to Bishop Auckland General Hospital.
Daughter-in-law Marie Moore said last night he is thought to have suffered a mild heart attack, but doctors are waiting for the results of further tests.
She said: "He took bad when he was walking home. Once he sat down he felt a bit better, but in the morning he thought he'd better get checked out with his doctor, and he got the ambulance to take him straight through.
"He seemed fine in himself when we went to see him, but we have to wait and see what the results of the tests are.
"He's been lucky, and we hope he'll take this as a warning and slow down, because he's very active."
Coun Moore, who had a mild heart attack in 1989, is an Independent councillor on Great Aycliffe Town Council, Sedgefield Borough Council, and Durham County Council
